The Hope Summit

Bridgetown Barbados
Evening 10th December to Mid-day 12th December 2026

“Hope is human, without hope you lose your humanity.”

Mia Amor Mottley, Prime Minister of Barbados.

Hope is an increasingly valuable resource. At a time when the world needs to come together to tackle multiple crises and new challenges, we are hampered by an erosion of trust in shared facts and shared institutions. But hope is an asset, if nurtured within us and shared between us, that can re-build trust and spur us to act together.

A different kind of summit

The Hope Summit takes place just days before the G20 world leaders gather in Miami Florida, but it’s a very different set of people and a very different place.

Barbados is a small island nation on the front line of the climate crisis, but also a leading voice for global economic change. The participants – from governments, parliaments, academia and civil society – are united by their actions to transform national and global economies, and work to drive the green transition, tackle inequality and support human flourishing.

These leaders for a new economy all have stories to tell about the A,B,C of hope:

  • ACTION
  • BOLD LEADERSHIP
  • COLLABORATION

The Hope Summit will be dynamic and participatory, combining public keynotes and discussions with private dialogues and action labs. The focus throughout will remain on action, turning what we know into what we do.

Bold political leadership,Transformative economic ideas, innovative collaborations.

As well as the high-level day, the summit will feature two innovative gatherings on the shoulder days of 9th and 12th December:

01LEADERS FOR A NEW ECONOMY FELLOWSHIP

The summit will launch the Leaders for a New Economy Fellowship Programme. This hand-picked fellowship of emerging political leaders from different countries will begin their leadership programme at the Hope Summit with a day of peer-to peer exchange.

02COALITIONS OF THE DOING

The summit will create joint strategy and collaboration space for those leading plurilateral ’coalitions of the doing’ initiatives which seek to transform international economic cooperation through transformative ideas, whether on climate transition and move from fossil fuels, debt, inequality, extreme wealth, or global taxation.
